Questions
What counts as a seat?
Anyone you invite into the workspace, whatever they do there. Foundations includes one, and each seat beyond that is priced above.
Do paralegals need a seat?
Yes. Each additional seat is $29/month, billed annually, and every member who signs in takes one. Staff can open files, send questionnaires and prepare drafts, but only an attorney can be responsible for a matter.
What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
Ending the trial deletes nothing: while the workspace is read only, nothing is deleted until you resubscribe or ask us to delete it. Matters already open stay open and their documents can be downloaded. Opening a new matter, drafting and sending stop until a plan is chosen.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from the plan page or the billing portal. Canceling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, drafting carries on until then, and afterwards the workspace is read only, with every matter kept and nothing deleted until you resubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Do you charge per document?
No. Nothing is metered, and there is no fee for a document or for a client. What a plan costs depends on the modules you are on, which the cards above set out.
Which states can you draft for?
Texas today. Clause Legal writes and maintains the Texas library. Prenuptial agreements and a second state are coming. Ask us about a second state.
Can I use my own templates?
Yes, and you do not have to change them. Upload the Word documents you already use, match their blanks to the questionnaire once, and every matter drafts in your language. Your templates draft first; ours fill in for the documents you have no template for.
I have never offered estate planning. Is this for me?
Yes. The Texas library and the guided workflow give you a starting point written by a practicing attorney, and you are still the attorney: review each document and use your own judgment for each client.
How quickly can I start?
Your workspace opens as soon as you start the trial, with no card and nothing to install. Enter your firm's details, upload any templates you already use, and open your first matter.
How is my client's data handled?
Client files are scoped to your firm and checked on every request, and they are never used to train AI models. Read the security page.
